What are the various academic facilities provided in the college?

Library & E-Learning Support System

The library provides access to a vast collection of books, journals and periodicals, audio and video lessons. It includes a digital library with E-books and subscriptions to online libraries and international E-journals. A total of 15,250 books are available in the college library (Reference Books — 1,500).

Computational Facilities

Each department has a computer lab accommodating 60–90 students. The college provides 300 Mbps broadband internet with multiple networks and servers maintained by students and staff.

Recreational and Sports Facilities

A fully functional gymnasium, court facilities for football, basketball, volleyball and more. Special coaching for volleyball, football and basketball is provided by a full-time physical trainer.

Production Centre & Testing Centre

Students are trained on HMT Stallion CNC lathe at the Production Centre. Civil and Electrical departments run testing centres for government and private sector sample certification.

English Language Lab

  • Computer aided Language Lab for 40 students with LAN and English language software.
  • Communication Skills Lab with audio-visual aids, PA system, LCD TV and digital audio-video system.

Training and Placement Cell (T & P Cell)

The T & P Cell, headed by Prof. Remya R.S, trains students for technological excellence and global careers through placement and training wings that work with recruiters to build industry-ready graduates.

IIT-Spoken Tutorial

In collaboration with IIT Bombay, students participate in live classes and IT skill development through the Spoken Tutorial Project.

IEEE, EEE, TRDI & Startup Initiatives

IEEE student community, Excellence in Engineering Education programme, Technology Transfer cum R & D and Incubation (TRDI) cell, and startup village initiatives support innovation and research culture on campus.

Parent Teacher Association

The PTA executive committee includes management, Principal, HODs and parent representatives. PTA meetings are held regularly to support discipline and academic excellence.

NSS

NSS units (176, 534) conduct blood donation drives, orphanage visits, special camps, sapling plantation and anti-ragging programmes under the guidance of Mrs. Priyanka S.P and Mr. Harikrishnan.

Alumni Association & Women Cell

Alumni meets strengthen institutional bonds. The Women Empowerment Cell supports girl students and addresses campus safety and welfare concerns.

Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR)

Activities include blood donation camps, community service projects, Run Kerala Run, organ donation awareness and social justice programmes.

What are the admission criteria?
  1. Eligibility for B.Tech admission follows guidelines issued by the Government of Kerala, Government of India and AICTE.
  2. Admission is based on state reservation policies. Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or equivalent (VHSE, CBSE, ISC).
  3. Eligibility is based on the entrance examination conducted by the Commission for Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala, and qualifying exam marks, with relaxations for reserved categories.
  4. Branches and intake are based on AICTE and KTU approvals.
  5. B.Tech is a credit-based programme of four academic years (8 semesters), extendable up to six years (12 semesters).

Is there an interview?

Yes, there will be an interview for candidates accompanying their parents during certificate verification.

I would like to know about the hostel life at MCE?

Hostel is the home away from home for students. Separate hostels for ladies and gents provide furnished, ventilated rooms with dining hall, indoor/outdoor games, reading room and audio-video facilities.

  • Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals; food provided during religious fasting.
  • Gents hostel: four floors, 100 rooms, capacity ~250 students.
  • Ladies hostel: five storeys, 60 rooms, capacity ~170 students.
  • Triple sharing basis; administered by Chief Warden and Matron.
  • Hostel admission is for one year, renewable at the discretion of the authority.
What security measures are in place at MCE?

The college has a discipline committee to address student issues. Campus and hostel premises have security personnel during day and night. CCTV surveillance supports safety across classrooms and campus.

How can I get a financial aid fee waiver?

Eligible students are given fee waiver under the Tuition Fee Waiver scheme for meritorious women, economically backward and physically handicapped students based on entrance rank and family income.

How to apply for scholarships and loans?

A helpdesk for educational loans functions in the college, assisting students to avail loans from nationalized banks and resolving procedural delays with district administration.

Scholarships for OBC and economically weaker students are distributed annually without discrimination. Medical insurance is provided for students involved in accidents.

Does the college offer placements?

Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU)

CGPU offers training for interviews and group discussions, soft skills from first semester through pre-final year, mock interviews, English lab support and campus recruitment with leading companies.

The placement wing coordinates pre-placement talks, interviews and group discussions with infrastructure to support every stage of recruitment.

What about taking a leave?

Duty Leaves

  1. Duty leave is granted for approved curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  2. Sanctioned duty leave counts for attendance if the student is present for at least 50% of working periods.
  3. Applications must be recommended by the staff in charge and Senior Advisor, submitted to the HOD.
  4. Apply preferably before leave dates; late applications are not considered.

Other Leaves

  1. All absences require leave application sanctioned by the HOD.
  2. Medical certificate or parent/guardian letter required for leave exceeding 3 days.
  3. Submit application on the day of returning to college; late applications are not entertained.
  4. Absence without leave is considered an offence.
