Humanities & Science

The budding professionals enrol into the BTech programme with conflicted emotions in the hope of getting acquainted with the new environment and learn how to wing their dreams. The Department of Humanities and Science provides them a sense of second home here, with a friendly welcome assuring them support and arming them with knowledge, skills, and values that will help them develop into successful and honest individuals. Learning science and mathematics is vital for youngsters today as they promote creativity while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Science and mathematics are applied practically in engineering to advance societal and global progress. The department’s main goal is to mould students from various backgrounds and develop their raw talent in order to help them realise their potential and improve their lives. In order to prepare students for the challenges they will confront in their academic and professional careers, the department tries to ensure that students have a good understanding of fundamental disciplines such as Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, and Economics. It relentlessly works to impart knowledge, quality-based teaching and above all outlook which is imperative for a proficient engineer.

Head of the Department

Having got enriched with 21 years of experience of teaching Mathematics in BTech, MTech and MCA level, Prof Femi Susan Babu has been serving this college as the Head of Department of Humanities and Science and First Year Coordinator. On July 5th, 2000, she began her career at Christian College, Chengannur and she joined this institution in 2004. Since 2008, she has been serving this institution as the first-year coordinator and has been crucial in assisting the newcomers in becoming accustomed to the demands of academic requirements of BTech program. She collaborates with the heads of other departments and staffs to ensure that the academic progress of the new students goes smoothly.

She not only excels as a teacher but also as the lead coordinator of numerous events held at the college. Also worked as Committee member for the preparations for NAAC and NBA accreditations. She has attended a lot of national/ international seminars and FDPs in an ongoing effort to stay informed and broaden her knowledge base.
