Report on the webinar on ‘Start-ups in Food Sector’ conducted by AFSTI, Kollam Chapter The AFSTI Kollam Chapter organised a webinar on the topic ‘Start-ups in Food Sector’ on 25th February, 2022 at 2 pm in google meet platform. The speaker of the day was Dr K.P. Sudheer, Professor & Head. Dept of Agricultural Engineering, College of Agriculture, Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara .The programme started with a silent prayer followed by introductory remarks by Dr K K Abdul Rasheed, President, Kollam Chapter. Dr. Praveena. D, LEC Member & Principal, CIFT, Konni offered the welcome address and introduction about the speaker was handled by Ms. Alphonsa James, LEC Member, Assistant Professor, Dept of Food Technology, TKM IT,Kollam. The number of participants for the programme was around 500 including the senior faculties and students of CIFT, Konni, Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam, St Joseph’s College for Women, Alappuzha, St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam and Musaliar College of Engineering, Chirayinkeezhu. Dr. K. P. Sudheer, an eminent academician and a renowned researcher and a distinguished speaker enlightened the participants with his excellent presentation on the topic on start-ups in food sector. He explained in detail about the Agri Business Incubator, an initiative of KAU which helps in promoting, developing and establishing Agripreneurship. Food Processing was one of the highlighted areas for students of Food Technology. The talk was an eyeopener for the students in this field and it helped to enrich and enlighten the young minds with innovative ideas. The session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr Thara. C.M, Secretary, AFSTI Kollam Chapter & Head, Dept. of Food Technology, Musaliar College of Engineering, Chirayinkeezhu.
